Rococo Gilt Brass & Crema Marfil Marble Corner Guéridon — Acanthus Tripod
Design & Inspiration
Place this guéridon beside a bergère armchair or at the centre of an entrance hall and the room arranges itself around it. Three sinuous cabriole legs, each sprouting a full collar of hand-cast acanthus leaves at the foot and again at the apron, carry a warmly veined Crema Marfil marble disc at eye level while a smaller marble roundel rests mid-shaft on a cast pine-cone finial — the kind of considered detail that separates a piece made with historical intent from decorative furniture made merely to fill space. The polished gold finish on every brass element catches ambient light and throws it back in soft arcs, so the table reads differently at midday and by lamplight. Faithfully reproduced in the tradition of the French Louis XV guéridon de salon, this piece draws from the design vocabulary of the Rococo ateliers that supplied Versailles and the great Parisian hôtels particuliers of the 1740s–1760s.
Materials & Craftsmanship
The structural and decorative framework is cast solid brass, finished by hand to a high-polish gold. The acanthus leaf clusters at the apron edge are individually modelled, capturing the layered, slightly curled character of the classical acanthus motif rather than the flat pressed approximations common in mass production. The three-leg cabriole form — each leg curving outward then inward to a scroll foot — is the correct Rococo solution to the problem of carrying a round top: it eliminates the visual bulk of a fourth leg and lets the marble disc appear to float. The pine-cone finial at the central column junction is a Rococo decorative constant, referencing fertility and natural abundance. Both marble surfaces — the main top and the lower shelf — are cut from Crema Marfil stone, a warm beige marble with subtle cream veining that complements rather than competes with the golden brass. The guéridon is handcrafted by Brass & Wood artisans in Egypt using casting and hand-finishing techniques passed through generations of Egyptian metalwork tradition.

Handcrafted in Egypt
Every piece leaving the Brass & Wood workshop is the product of hands-on craft: the brass is cast, chased, and polished by skilled metalworkers; the marble is cut and edge-finished by stone artisans. No two pieces are precisely identical — small variations in the marble veining and in the depth of the brass chasing are the natural signatures of handwork, not imperfections. This guéridon can be customised in brass finish (antique gold, silver, bronze) and marble selection on request.
