Louis XV Rococo Commode with Ormolu Mounts & Marquetry Inlay

Design Inspiration

Rooted in the golden age of French Rococo, this commode captures the graceful asymmetry and organic elegance of the Louis XV period. Its serpentine silhouette, cabriole legs with gilded sabots, and scrolling foliate ormolu corner mounts echo the masterworks produced in the ateliers of eighteenth-century Paris.

Materials

The carcass is constructed from kiln-dried solid hardwood, veneered in richly figured exotic wood with pronounced grain movement. A framed marquetry panel graces the drawer fronts, bordered by brass stringing. Gilded ormolu mounts — including floral cartouches, acanthus corner appliqués, and paw-foot sabots — are cast in brass and finished in antique gold.

Craftsmanship

Every element is hand-assembled and hand-finished by Brass & Wood artisans in Egypt, following classical European joinery traditions. Drawers are fitted with dovetail construction for longevity, and all brass hardware is individually polished and lacquered to preserve its warm golden lustre for generations.
