Rococo Revival Giltwood Oval Wall Medallion - Hand-Painted Bouquet & Rose Crest
Design & Inspiration
A Rococo Revival composition in the spirit of the Napoleon III salon: a ribbon-tied crest releases a cascade of carved roses that tumbles down to embrace an oval medallion, itself hand-painted with a garden bouquet of roses, daisies and forget-me-nots on a warm gold ground. A carved bow and pendant drop complete the vertical sweep.
Materials & Craftsmanship
The frame is carved from solid wood — Romanian redwood dried below 10% humidity — water-gilded and burnished so the rope-twist border and rose petals shimmer against the matte painted panel. The bouquet is painted by hand, stroke by stroke, in the manner of 19th-century decorative panels.
Dimensions & Details
Width: 44 cm / Height: 104 cm. The elongated silhouette is made for narrow wall piers, stair landings, and paired arrangements beside mirrors or doorways.
Handcrafted in Egypt
Carved, gilded and painted in Egypt by the artisans of Brass & Wood, continuing Damietta's tradition of classical woodcarving.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the painting done by hand?
Yes — each medallion is individually painted, so no two are strictly identical.
Does it work as a pair?
Beautifully — many clients order two to flank a mirror, console or doorway.
How is it hung?
From a single concealed hanger behind the crest; the piece arrives ready to hang.
