Brass & Wood Neoclassical Inlaid Wood Buffet
Design & Inspiration
The Brass & Wood Neoclassical Inlaid Wood Buffet draws directly from the Louis XVI and Directoire traditions — a period defined by architectural discipline, symmetry, and restrained elegance. Ebonised pilasters with carved rosette capitals frame each section, while a decorative lattice-carved frieze runs across the full width, bridging classical antiquity with 18th-century French refinement.
Materials & Finishes
The carcass is constructed from solid wood with a rich medium-to-dark reddish-brown high-gloss lacquered finish that reveals the natural figuring of the wood. Contrasting ebonised pilasters and border mouldings create a bold two-tone architectural effect. Fine brass inlay banding traces the panel edges and drawer fronts, while antique gold brass hardware — cast door handles and decorative escutcheons — completes the palette. Tapered sabre legs are ebonised and capped with antique brass sabots.
Craftsmanship
Each piece is entirely handcrafted in the Brass & Wood Cairo atelier. The lattice frieze is hand-carved, the brass inlay banding is individually set by artisans, and all brass fittings are cast and hand-patinated to an antique gold finish. Internal shelving provides generous storage behind hinged doors.
