The silver-leaf frame rises 190 centimeters at the headboard, its shaped silhouette — a cascade of sinuous curves, sculpted cartouches, and C-scroll shoulders — carving a distinct architectural presence against the wall. At the apex, a hand-carved shell-and-acanthus crest catches every shift of light in the room, the silver finish moving from bright highlights to shadowed depths across each carved ridge.

Materials & Craftsmanship

The frame is constructed from solid beech dried to under 10% humidity, ensuring structural stability that will endure the demands of daily use without the warping or checking common to lesser timbers. Every curve of the shaped headboard, the carved footboard cartouche, and the cabriole-footed side rails has been shaped and finished by hand — no machine can reproduce the deliberate variations in surface depth that give silver-leaf carving its living quality. The silver-leaf application follows the traditional water-gilding method: a gesso base, followed by bole, followed by hand-laid silver leaf burnished to a bright, cool lustre. The headboard panel and footboard centre panel are upholstered in a cream damask fabric woven with a classical urn-and-acanthus repeat, the pattern quietly reinforcing the Rococo vocabulary of the frame without competing with it. The slat mattress support system accommodates any standard 200 × 200 cm mattress.
