Louis XV Bombe Commode with Marquetry & Gilt Bronze Mounts
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the grandeur of the French Louis XV court, this bombe commode captures the era's signature serpentine curves, exuberant floral marquetry panels, and lavishly scrolled cabriole legs. Every silhouette swells with the organic vitality that defined Rococo furniture at its peak.
Materials
The carcass is constructed from solid hardwood, veneered in richly grained rosewood and satinwood arranged in dramatic herringbone and quartered patterns. The shaped top is finished in warm-veined natural marble, while all hardware — handles, corner mounts, and leg sabots — is cast in solid brass with a hand-applied antique gold finish.
Craftsmanship
Each piece is painstakingly assembled by Brass & Wood artisans in Egypt, where centuries-old marquetry techniques are preserved and passed down through generations. Delicate floral motifs are individually inlaid by hand, and every ormolu mount is hand-chased and polished to mirror the finest 18th-century Parisian ébénisterie.
