Louis XV Capitonné Bed in Antique Gold Leaf

A grand Louis XV bed whose headboard rises in a shaped, serpentine crest framed by deeply carved acanthus scrolls and rocaille shells, hand-finished in warm antique gold leaf. The headboard and the matching low footboard are both worked in deep capitonné buttoning over soft dove-grey upholstery, so the tufting catches light across the entire silhouette. Curved cabriole legs and carved scrolled feet lift the frame clear of the floor, while the gilded moulding traces every curve from crest to side rail.

Every carving is cut by hand, and the gold leaf is laid and antiqued panel by panel so the highlights settle naturally along the raised scrollwork. Handcrafted by Brass & Wood in Egypt, it is made to anchor a master bedroom, pairing easily with carved commodes, table lamps and pale silk bedding for a serene, thoroughly classical room.
