Louis XV Mahogany Console Table with Gilt Bronze Ormolu Mounts
Design Inspiration
Rooted in the exuberant spirit of the Louis XV era, this console table captures the essence of 18th-century French court craftsmanship. Its gracefully curved silhouette, serpentine apron, and sweeping cabriole legs echo the Rococo fascination with nature, movement, and ornamental luxury. The lower kidney-shaped shelf mirrors the table's organic curves, lending the piece an elegant visual harmony from every angle.
Materials & Finish
The frame is constructed from solid mahogany, chosen for its deep, warm tones and exceptional structural integrity. Every surface is hand-polished to a rich, lustrous finish that accentuates the natural grain. Crowning the piece is a suite of finely cast gilt bronze ormolu mounts — scrolling foliage, blooming roses, ribbon-tied flower cascades, and a central cartouche — each chased and gilded by hand. Brass banding edges the tabletop and lower shelf, adding a refined golden border.
Craftsmanship
Brass & Wood artisans hand-shape each component in our Egyptian atelier, drawing on centuries-old European joinery traditions. The ormolu appliqués are individually cast, chased, and fire-gilded before being fitted to the mahogany body with meticulous precision. The result is a piece that honours the grandeur of the original French masters while meeting the highest contemporary standards of quality.
