Design Inspiration

Rooted in the golden age of French court furniture, this bombe commode captures the exuberant spirit of the Louis XV era. Its dramatically curved silhouette, scrolling cabriole legs, and lush floral motifs reflect the Rococo love of asymmetry, movement, and natural ornamentation — reimagined for the modern luxury interior.

Materials

The carcase is constructed from kiln-dried solid hardwood, veneered in rich rosewood and tulipwood parquetry. The sweeping top is crowned with a shaped slab of genuine breche marble, its warm amber and burgundy veining complementing the warm reddish-brown palette of the case. Decorative mounts, handles, and escutcheons are cast in solid brass and finished in antique gold.

Craftsmanship

Each panel is inlaid by hand using the centuries-old technique of marquetry, assembling hundreds of precisely cut veneer pieces into flowing floral urns, acanthus scrolls, and delicate vine tendrils. Brass ormolu mounts are hand-chased and individually fitted, while the cabriole feet are shaped and carved entirely by artisans at the Brass & Wood workshop in Egypt, honoring the exacting standards of 18th-century Parisian ébénisterie.

Storage & Function

Behind the ornate façade, two generously proportioned drawers glide on hand-fitted wooden runners, offering ample storage without compromising the piece's sculptural integrity.
