Louis XV Bombe Commode with Ormolu Mounts & Marble Top

Design Inspiration

Rooted in the opulence of 18th-century French Rococo, this bombe commode captures the sweeping curves, asymmetric flourishes, and theatrical grandeur that defined the reign of Louis XV. The dramatically swelled front and serpentine silhouette echo the finest pieces produced in the royal ateliers of Paris.

Materials

The carcase is constructed from solid hardwood dressed in meticulously laid kingwood and tulipwood parquetry, forming bold chevron and diamond patterns across every face. The top is crowned with a slab of genuine variegated marble in warm burgundy and cream tones, providing both beauty and lasting durability.

Ormolu Brass Mounts

Every escutcheon, handle, corner mount, and sabot is cast in solid brass and hand-chased to achieve the intricate acanthus-leaf, rocaille, and cartouche motifs characteristic of the Louis XV period. The mounts are finished in a rich antique gold to replicate authentic ormolu gilding.

Craftsmanship

Handmade in Egypt by Brass & Wood artisans trained in classical European joinery, this commode demands hundreds of hours of skilled labour — from hand-cutting the parquetry veneers to hand-polishing the lacquered finish — ensuring every piece is a singular work of decorative art.
