Louis XV Rococo Bombe Commode with Marble Top & Gilt Bronze Mounts

Design Inspiration

Rooted in the opulent French Louis XV tradition, this bombe commode captures the sweeping curves and exuberant ornamentation that defined Rococo furniture at the court of Versailles. The dramatically curved silhouette, cabriole legs, and asymmetric foliate scrollwork speak to an era where furniture was considered high art.

Materials

The body is constructed from solid hardwood dressed in hand-cut kingwood parquetry veneer, exhibiting a warm reddish-brown tone with natural figuring. The top is finished in a slab of genuine variegated marble, offering cool grey and burgundy tones that contrast beautifully with the warm timber. Door panels feature hand-woven cane insets framed by gilded bronze borders.

Ormolu & Bronze Mounts

Every mount, escutcheon, corner guard, and sabots is cast in solid brass and finished to an antique gold patina, replicating the authentic ormolu technique of 18th-century French ébénistes. Scrolling acanthus leaves, rocaille cartouches, and floral sprays are placed with precision across the facade and legs.

Craftsmanship

Handcrafted in Egypt by Brass & Wood master artisans, this piece unites centuries-old joinery techniques with meticulous hand-finishing. Each cabinet is assembled with mortise-and-tenon joinery, hand-polished veneer surfaces, and individually fitted brass hardware to ensure an heirloom-quality result.
