Design Inspiration

Rooted in the exuberant spirit of 18th-century French Rococo, this tea table channels the grandeur of Versailles into a functional centerpiece. The lavishly painted marquetry top — featuring scrolling botanical motifs, blooming flowers, and a diamond-lattice centre medallion — recalls the marquetry ateliers of André-Charles Boulle and his successors. Every inch of the surface tells a story of aristocratic splendour, designed to anchor a salon with effortless authority.

Materials & Finish

Crafted entirely from seasoned solid wood, the table combines two distinct finishes. The top surface celebrates warm honey, amber, and deep mahogany tones achieved through precision wood inlay and hand-applied paint, creating a jewel-like tableau. The apron and cabriole legs are carved in high relief — a continuous pierced lattice interspersed with acanthus leaf clusters — then hand-gilded with genuine gold leaf, lending the base the luminous warmth characteristic of Rococo gilded furniture. Scroll feet complete the silhouette with a graceful flourish.

Craftsmanship

Every piece bearing the Brass & Wood name is handcrafted in Egypt by master woodworkers who have inherited centuries of carving and gilding tradition. The lattice apron is individually pierced and fitted; the marquetry top is assembled sliver by sliver; and the gold leaf is burnished by hand to achieve the characteristic satin-bright sheen. No two tables are identical — each is a singular work of applied art.
