Louis XVI Tea Trolley – Mahogany & Gilt Bronze Marquetry
Design Inspiration
This magnificent tea trolley is a faithful homage to the refined court furniture of Louis XVI's France — an era that married Neoclassical geometry with sumptuous decorative arts. Swags of laurel, ribbon-tied floral garlands, and acanthus volutes cascade across every surface, recalling the ateliers of the great Parisian ébénistes. The piece functions as both a functional serving trolley and a sculptural centrepiece destined to elevate any salon or reception room.
Materials & Finish
The body is crafted from solid mahogany, hand-veneered and inlaid with intricate floral marquetry panels on the main shelf and lower tier, finished to a deep mirror polish. Every mount — from the swag-draped drawer fronts to the sinuous acanthus-scroll side supports and the pierced crystal-edged upper tray gallery — is cast in solid brass and finished in warm antique gold. Four slender tapered legs, banded with gilt-bronze collars and sabots, rest on elegant porcelain casters for smooth mobility.
Craftsmanship
Each trolley is entirely hand-assembled at the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt, where master craftsmen apply centuries-old joinery techniques alongside hand-chasing and hand-polishing of every brass component. The result is a piece of heirloom quality that integrates seamlessly with classical European interiors, from Baroque-inspired palaces to contemporary luxury residences.
